Literary and Memorial House-Museum of Taras Shevchenko (“House in Priorka”)
Both the house itself and the estate are situated in the picturesque neighbourhood of Kyiv, Priorka, that once attracted the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko by its beauty and quiet.
Taras Shevchenko lived here for two weeks in summer in 1859 during his last journey to Ukraine. He was living in a small house on the Vyshgorodska, 5 street. He rented the room in this house. The owner of the house, whose name was Varvara Pashkovska, had left the memoires «The couple words about Taras Shevchenko» that was printed in 1875 in St. Petersburg’s magazine «Pchela» by her sister Stephania Krapivina.
