Local history museum of Putyvl
The Museum of Local History in Putyvl is the oldest in Sumy region. The current museum premise is the former private residence of the landowner Cherepov, built in 1914 in neoclassical style.
It has valuable collections of archeology, ethnography, numismatics, weapons, furniture, books, photographs, documents, fine and applied art items.
The present exposition covers the history of the region from the most ancient times to 1945 and consists of 8 sections.
In the museum of local lore there is also a stationary exhibition dedicated to the outstanding landmark of the world and Ukrainian literature "The Lay of Igor's Campaign". It presents materials of archaeological excavations, rare engravings by prominent artists V. Favorsky, G. Yakutovich and V. Lopata, the publication of the "The Lay of Igor's Campaign" in different languages and the like.
The museum is a branch of Putyvl State Historical and Cultural Reserve.
