The Holy Protection Cathedral
The Holy Protection Cathedral is almost an exact copy of the main temple of Olexandrivsk, destroyed by the Bolsheviks. It was built for fifteen years.
The height of the cathedral reaches 53 m, experts call it a truly one of the most beautiful cathedrals of the country. Before the October Revolution, the old temple was located on the site where the cathedral was now built. His sketches were found in the archives of St. Petersburg. Architect Dmitry Romanov studied all the materials found, analyzed the centuries-old experience of church design and recreated the Holy Protection Cathedral. Historians and experts consider the construction of the Holy Protection Cathedralas the beginning of the era of historical center of Zaporizhzhia restoration. It is planned to reconstruct the nearby buildings as well. The Holy Protection Cathedral was sanctified in October 2007 on an anniversary of city's liberation from the fascist invaders, as well as on the All-Ukrainian Day of the Zaporizhzhia Cossacks.
